Event Details

This session is part of the Design for Deeper Learning Annual Series hosted by Nancy Bacon ConsultingMore information about the two additional sessions:

As a learning designer, what do you do when people know they need to wear their safety glasses, add to their retirement savings, update their client records, finish their compliance training, or submit their expense reports on time, but they still aren’t doing it?

This session will explore how to design with principles and models from behavioral science. We will examine behavior change from several different angles, using techniques from the fields of neuroscience, behavioral economics, behavioral psychology, persuasive technology, and user experience design.

In this session, we will look at the top reasons why learning fails to change behavior and what you can do instead.  Drawing on current research into behavior change interventions, this session will:

  • Help you diagnose the root causes for difficult behavior change challenges
  • Map solutions using comprehensive research-based models
  • Redesign learning materials to be more effective at motivating sustainable behavior change

The Design for Deeper Learning Annual Series invites learning & development experts to share ideas and insights with the people delivering learning programs within nonprofits, philanthropic organizations, and government agencies. Our goal is to elevate effective and inclusive adult learning practices in the nonprofit and public sectors so the people who work on behalf of our communities have the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to thrive, and the people served by nonprofits and the public sector live with joy and liberation.

The Design for Deeper Learning Series is moderated by Nancy Bacon, a teacher, instructional designer, and learning strategist who has worked for over 25 years in the nonprofit sector.
