Organization Overview

The Paris Public Library serves all residents of Paris as the center of recreational and cultural reading and programming, as a support for educational activities, both formal and self-directed, and as the source for information needed to understand and accomplish some project or task, whether personal or business-related. Actively examining the community it serves, the library acquires, organizes and distributes appropriate materials, in the most suitable contemporary formats, to fulfill the multiple needs of the library's clientele. To achieve the library's mission, the Paris Public Library's trained and experienced librarian, assisted by an able staff, selects, purchases and organizes books, periodicals, audio-cds, DVDs, and other relevant media, to provide the community an orderly, balanced and current collection of informational, instructional, and entertainment-orientated works. The librarian and the library's staff help library clients locate, assess, and utilize the library's assorted resources, or, when necessary, procure required or requested materials from other libraries or agencies.
