Organization Overview

MISSION STATEMENT:
The Summer Camp is a nonprofit, residential summer camp for inner city and rural girls, ages 7-18, from low-income and foster homes. We provide an inclusive, supportive and safe environment in which campers explore fun, challenging and educational experiences, learn from positive role models, and have the opportunity to build skills for life year after year. We stand against discrimination and celebrate the diversity of our campers and staff. Donor support provides full camperships for each girl every summer.

VISION STATEMENT:
To create a rich, multi-faceted, continually evolving program where girls learn about themselves, develop vital skills, and realize their intellectual potential and leadership abilities.

2024 PROGRAM:
We will serve 300 girls over five camp sessions. Our programs will include 10-day General Camp, Hiking and Canoeing, Leadership, Counselor-in-Training and Junior Counselor. A majority of our campers participate for multiple summers and give back as counselors and mentors.

IMPACT:
Over the past 38 years, The Summer Camp has served 10,283 girls. We partner with nearly 100 social service organizations and school guidance counselors across the New York area and New England annually.
