How to Access the NEW Blanket Sales Tax Exemption for Nonprofits
Zoom
Event Details
ALL YOUR DREAMS ARE COMING TRUE! Ok, ok, maybe not all of them. But we are REALLY excited about this important money-saving policy update, and we think you will be, too!
Starting January 1, 2025, all charitable nonprofits in Maine will be eligible for sales tax exemption. This means approximately 5,000 organizations across Maine (like yours!) could save a collective $10 million per year.
Please note: your IRS determination letter is NOT the same thing as sales tax exemption! For most charitable nonprofits in Maine, this will be a NEW exemption.
After decades of a confusing and unfair sales tax exemption system for 501(c)(3) nonprofits, Maine Association of Nonprofits helped to champion passage of a blanket sales tax exemption for charitable nonprofits across the state.
Join us on Thursday, November 21st to hear from a representative from Maine Revenue Services.
You'll learn:
- How the exemption will work
- What steps you’ll need to take to gain the exemption certificate from Maine Revenue Services
- Which purchases qualify for sales tax exemption
