Sunrise County Economic Council

Professional Bio

Gabi was born in Arizona while her father was serving in the USAF. From there she has moved over thirty times in her life, all over the United States, England, and Spain; she now hopes that Maine will be her forever home, or at least until her future snowbird goals are realized. While moving around she has lived in Maine, Arizona, Spain, England, New Mexico, Colorado, Ohio, and Florida and was deployed while in the Air Force to UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Germany. Gabi received a degree in Social Sciences at the United States Air Force Academy, as well as a master’s degree in English at New Mexico State University. She served for ten years as a finance officer in the United States Air Force, then taught English Language arts for ten years at the college level at NMSU and EPCC as well as high school English in Washington County, ME. Gabi accepted a position in 2017 at Sunrise County Economic Council where she currently works as the Finance Director. Gabi has a supportive husband Jesse, and five children. At one point the family was raising sheep but downsized during the pandemic and now have a few chickens, two dogs and a rabbit name Oliver. The family loves to go hiking and enjoy the beauty of the bold coast. In her free time Gabi volunteers as the President of the Maine Fiber Frolic and helps organize the Fleece tent at the MOFGA Common Ground Fair which goes along with her passion for fiber arts, which has a vibrant artist community in Maine. While Gabi’s experiences have ranged from teaching writing or knitting classes, tending sheep, to building military and non-profit budgets, the thread that runs through them all is service to her community and the people.
