Launched in 2007, the Governor's Awards for Nonprofit Excellence in Maine are presented annually by the Maine Association of Nonprofits to the three Maine nonprofit organizations that have achieved significant results by utilizing ingenuity combined with sound management practices, as outlined in the Guiding Principles and Practices for Nonprofit Excellence in Maine.

2010 Governor's Awards for Nonprofit Excellence
The Recipients of the 2010 Governor’s Awards for Nonprofit Excellence were announced at the 2010 MANP Annual Nonprofit Leadership Conference on April 1st. 

This year, organizations that best demonstrated tested and exemplary management practices which contribute to organizational success and mission achievement were chosen in three categories based on organizational budget size.

Awards

• $2,000 to each of up to three Maine nonprofit organizations for 1st place
• $1,000 to each of up to three Maine nonprofits for 2nd place
  
• Maine-made, handcrafted wood and marble statuettes for each winning organization
• State-wide recognition

Eligibility

• Free to all applicants
  
• Open to any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations based in Maine
  
• Open to nonprofits of any size, age, budget or sub-sector
• Past winners and organizations associated with MANP employees or board members are ineligible for participation in this Awards program.
