MANP SkillBuilders
MANP educational workshops are designed to build perspectives, skills and resources that enable nonprofit board and staff leaders to strengthen their organization's skills and capabilities. Typical workshop material is drawn from professional experience in both the private and nonprofit sectors and is presented through:

  • Combined interactive and lecture-style programming, incorporating real-world examples
  • Practical hands-on exercises
  • Relevant handouts and tools

A limited number of SkillBuilder scholarshipsPDFare available to allow nonprofits with limited funding to attend relevant programs.

Conferences
MANP holds its Annual Leadership Conference each Spring, co-sponsored with Colby College. In addition, MANP sponors Nonprofit Day at the State House each February. These events provide the perspectives of national and regional keynote speakers, informational sessions on relevant nonprofit management issues, and opportunities for networking with your nonprofit peers.

TrainMaine Calendar
Visit our TrainMaine community calendar to view additional upcoming nonprofit training opportunities. This is a resource for both members and non-members. Use it for planning or posting your own organization's training as well as to see the scope of nonprofit related trainings available throughout Maine.

Funded Partnerships
Foundations, corporations and government agencies call on The Maine Association of Nonprofits (MANP) to develop and implement capacity building initiatives. These programs bring the most up-to-date knowledge and trends to nonprofit leaders. They center on the belief that interaction between peers is a highly effective approach to learning key leadership and management skills, encouraging innovation and collaboration -- and using these networks to develop a ‘solutions-based’ approach to social issues.

Leadership Transitions
With a carefully designed and managed transition process, the departure of an executive director is an opportunity for any organization to reflect on its mission and vision and to think creatively about its leadership needs. MANP’s two-hour leadership transition training for boards of directors helps Maine nonprofit organizations prepare their organizations for a new executive director.

Networks for Social Change
There is a growing awareness that the social problems we are seeking to solve are much larger than one organization can address by working alone. To assist organizations that are joining forces to work in networks, coalitions and alliances, MANP is partnering with Maine Network Partners to provide training; raise awareness of existing networks; and increase knowledge about new technologies that can support networks.
